Save Our Speyside - A growing group of people who care about our area
Evonik 20 MW Biomass Power Plant LÜNEN/GERMANY - (Photo 2007 by Rasi57 at de.wikipedia.org) ![]() | About UsWe are all in this together and are glad you are visiting our site. The Save Our Speyside action group was formed in response to a Public Meeting held at the Craigellachie Village Hall on Monday 28th November, 2011 by a company known as Estover Energy. The PurposeEstover Energy are proposing to develop a wood fired biomass power station to provide electricity to the National Grid and a small percentage of waste heat to the Macallan Distillery on a hill in Craigellachie Wood, just along from the distillery on the opposite side of the B9102 Archiestown road. Our Aim
We want to work together to make our objections known and to reach out to other groups. We want to protect this area from becoming a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week heavy industrial site, which will be noisy, increase traffic from all sides, but most of all will spoil the beautiful views from all around the Spey Valley. This is our online meeting place, where we share ideas, and publicise our and your thoughts. Together we can protect our local environment, landscape and wildlife for the future. |
THE ABOVE PHOTO MONTAGE WAS PRODUCED USING A THEODOLITE TO SHOW THE TRUE
SIZE AND SCALE OF THE PROPOSED POWER STATION USING THE MEASUREMENTS INDICATED BY ESTOVER WHICH ARE AS FOLLOWS:
BOILER HALL - 32 METRES HIGH X 57 METRES LONG X 20 METRES WIDE
THIS IS ALSO BASED ON THE MEASUREMENT OF THE TALLEST SCOTS PINES IN CRAIGELLACHIE WOOD WHICH ARE 25 METRES HIGH
IT IS WORTH NOTING THAT THIS ILLUSTRATION DOES NOT INCLUDE THE OTHER STORAGE BUILDINGS AND CONVEYOR BELT ALSO THE STEAM FROM THE CHIMNEY WILL BE VISIBLE IN TEMPERATURES UP TO 10 DEGREES CELSIUS
